What’s involved

Concrete is honest: it shows you every mistake that happened underneath it. Slab prep means stripping the organics, setting grade, and building a compacted granular pad that is flat, dense, and drains, so the slab cures well and stays where the finishers left it.

We prep for shops, garages, additions, and slab-on-grade homes, working to the builder’s or engineer’s spec, and we check the pad for grade before anyone orders concrete.

How flat does the pad need to be?

As flat as the drawings say. A pad that’s merely close costs real money in extra concrete, so we grade to tolerance and check it rather than eyeball it.

Do you place the under-slab gravel?

Yes, in compacted lifts. The vapour barrier and insulation stay with the concrete crew, in whatever order your builder runs.

My lot slopes. Can I still have a slab shop?

Usually, with a cut, a retaining wall, or both. That’s a grading question first, and we answer it at the site walk.
